About the product
What is NeutraOat?

A modified oat-fiber product designed to capture PFAS in the gut before it gets reabsorbed. It is food-grade and taken by mouth.

What does NeutraOat capture?

NeutraOat is designed to capture PFAS, BPA, and phthalates. In a simulated digestive tract, it captures all three. We are now collecting PFAS data in AFFF-exposed adults. Pesticides and herbicides are still being tested.

Will it actually lower my PFAS?

We think it will. Cholestyramine, a prescription bile-acid binder that works the same way in the gut, lowered PFOS by about 60% in a published 2024 trial. NeutraOat is built to do the same job in food-grade form, at a lower dose, and to be more selective about what it binds.

In a simulated digestive tract, NeutraOat captures PFAS, BPA, and phthalates. A human pilot in AFFF-exposed adults is underway to measure the effect on PFAS in people directly.

Why this instead of activated charcoal, a sauna, or donating blood?

A few approaches come up:

  • Activated charcoal binds almost everything, including the nutrients and medications you want to keep. NeutraOat is built to be selective.
  • Sweating it out through saunas or exercise removes very little PFAS. It isn't a meaningful route.
  • Donating blood or plasma does lower PFAS, with trial evidence behind it, and is worth considering. It takes regular donations and isn't an option for everyone.

NeutraOat works in the gut, capturing PFAS as it recirculates, and is meant to be something you take daily.

Can I just eat oatmeal?

Oatmeal might help a little, but not much. We start from a purified oat fiber called β-glucan and run it through an enzyme step that adds water-repelling pockets shaped to fit PFAS molecules. Plain oatmeal doesn't have any of that.

Is it a drug?

No. NeutraOat is a non-prescription product. It is not approved by the FDA as a treatment for any condition.

Where is it made?

NeutraOat is made in Alberta, Canada.

Using it
How do I take it?

NeutraOat is a powder. The dose is 4 g a day for acute removal or 2 g a day for maintenance, taken right before breakfast and dinner.

Mix it into water, yogurt, oatmeal, or anything else you want to put it in.

What does it taste and smell like?

Like oat fiber. The taste and smell are mild, and most people stop noticing once it is mixed into food or a drink.

How should I store it?

Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place, away from heat and humidity, and use it by the date on the container.

How will I know it's working?

You won't feel it working, and that's expected. PFAS leaves the body slowly, over months, so NeutraOat speeds that up rather than producing any day-to-day sensation. The way to track it is to test before you start and again a few months later: a blood test for PFAS, or a urine test for BPA and phthalates.

Safety
Is it safe?

NeutraOat is modified oat fiber. It moves through the digestive tract in about three hours, isn't absorbed into the bloodstream, and leaves the body intact. The most likely side effects are the same as with any fiber: mild GI effects like gas or bloating. Independent clinicians advise the program.

Will it pull out vitamins, minerals, or nutrients?

NeutraOat is built to be selective. In simulated intestinal fluid (FaSSIF), it captured the contaminants it targets while leaving vitamins and medications largely alone. You also space your other supplements and medications away from it, as described below, which further limits any effect on them.

What if I'm on other medications?

Most medications are fine. GLP-1 agonists, like Mounjaro or Ozempic, are fine. So are over-the-counter medications, like Advil or Tylenol.

Talk to your doctor before taking NeutraOat if you take any medication where small changes in dose can matter clinically. That includes:

  • Warfarin and other narrow-therapeutic-index anticoagulants
  • Antiepileptics (phenytoin, carbamazepine, valproate, lamotrigine)
  • Digoxin
  • Immunosuppressants (tacrolimus, cyclosporine, mycophenolate)
  • Lithium
  • Active chemotherapy or oral oncology agents

If you take a medication and you're unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist, and follow the dose-spacing guidance below.

Do I need to space NeutraOat from my other meds or supplements?

Yes. We're pretty sure NeutraOat won't interfere with your meds or supplements, but we'd rather be safe than sorry.

Take NeutraOat 1 to 2 hours apart from any medications, prescription or over-the-counter, and from any vitamins or supplements. This is the same dose-separation practice that's standard with prescription bile-acid binders like cholestyramine.

NeutraOat is taken before breakfast and dinner, so for most people the easiest routine is to move other pills to a different part of the day.

Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Probably. NeutraOat is oat fiber that stays in the gut and isn't absorbed, so it's unlikely to reach a pregnancy or breast milk. We haven't tested it in pregnancy, though, so check with your doctor first.

Does it contain glyphosate, mycotoxins, or gluten?

No. Our supplier tests the oat β-glucan that NeutraOat is made from for glyphosate, mycotoxins, and gluten, and it is clean on all three. The β-glucan is also tested for heavy metals and microbial contamination. Certificates of analysis are available on request.
